YEAR ROUND FISHING ADVENTURES

LEARN MORE ABOUT SEASONAL FISHING

As the seasons and tides change, so does the fishing. Good thing you’re hiring a local guide right? Dave knows all the ins and outs from what’s in season to what’s not, secret fishing spots known only to the locals (and maybe a few wise seagulls), to insider knowledge on bait preferences. Make every drift a tale to tell and get ready to fish, laugh, and maybe even dance a jig when you land that big one – because on the Sunshine Coast, the fish stories are as big as the adventures themselves!

SPRING (APRIL-JUNE)

As the weather warms up and the days get longer, we see the first signs of migratory Spring Salmon showing up (adding to the over-wintering resident feeder Spring Salmon). Pacific salmon, including Chinook and Coho, also start their annual migration, making it an ideal time for anglers.

SUMMER (JULY-AUGUST)

Salmon fishing remains strong through the summer, and anglers can target not only Chinook and Coho but also Pinks on years ending in odd numbers and Sockeye salmon on certain years. Longer daylight hours provide extended fishing opportunities, and the generally calmer seas make for fantastic days on the water.

FALL (SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER)

Fall marks the peak of salmon season on the Sunshine Coast as various salmon species return to spawn in their home rivers, including big Chinooks, your Cohos, and also the Northern Coho. The cooling temperatures trigger feeding frenzies as fish prepare for the winter, providing an optimal time for successful fishing.

WINTER (NOVEMBER-MARCH)

While winter may bring cooler temperatures, there are still rewarding opportunities on the water. We will mainly be fishing for over-wintering Springs. Fishing at this time of year requires patience and proper gear, but the solitude and the chance to hook into these resilient fish make it a unique and fulfilling experience.
